Driving a luxury automobile has its advantages and feeling better emotionally may be one of them, according to a recent study.
Published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the study finds that luxury car owners never feel happier about their vehicle, than when they first get behind the wheel, according to Cars.com.
“The assumption is a luxury car feels better when you drive it, and you feel better in it, but we had reason to suspect that the story is much more mixed,” said Norbert Schwarz, University of Michigan psychology professor, who conducted the study, according to Cars.com. “What we find is that as long as you pay attention to your car while driving it, it feels better and you feel better.”
While luxury car drivers typically pay more attention to their vehicles when they drive it for the first time, Schwarz added being conscious about the prestige of their automobile can also promote a healthy mentality.
Luxury cars aren't the only type of vehicles that can bring their owners happiness. Hybrid drivers are some of the most happy and successful drviers around. According to Green Car Reports, the Toyota Prius has been the highest selling hybrid in the U.S. for years. The Honda Insight and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid were also listed as popular-selling hybrids.
